Sapona Guide to Making a Handmade Bath Bomb | Page 6

How does a homemade bath bomb work? Once the mixture of citric acid, baking soda and oils have been mixed together and dried out in a mold, they are ready for use. Homemade bath bombs create a reaction when the mixture is exposed to water. This reaction causes fizzing, caused by the release of carbon dioxide gas. As the reaction occurs, the homemade bath bomb will begin to break apart, releasing its combination of oils and pigments into the bath water.
