Official Grand Marshals
This year’s Santa Cruz Pride proclamants and Grand Marshals transcend from the traditional and focus on often
neglected trailing letters of the LGBTQ acronym: bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning.
Jennifer
Hastings, M. D.
Dr. Hastings founded the Transgender Health
Care Program in Santa Cruz at the Westside
Planned Parenthood in 2005, and her more
recent work there (among her ongoing duties as
a general Family Practice Physician) has been
focused on projects increasing access and services for trans youth.
Alejandra
Santiago
Alejandra Santiago is the transgender woman
who spearheaded the transgender program
at the Westside Health Center in Santa Cruz.
She works closely as a Medical Assistant with
Dr. Jennifer Hastings improving access for all
transgender persons to health services.
Alisun
Thompson
As a newly elected Board Member for Santa
Cruz City Schools, Alisun has maintained her
commitment to ensure that the K-12 schools in
the City of Santa Cruz are safe, welcoming and
celebratory places for all our children to thrive
in, and particularly for youth who identify as
LGBTQ.
