Sandersville Scene Olympic Gold Medals - Page 7

Our cover for this issue of Sandersville Scene takes us outside the borders of Washington County to the other side of the globe but there is certainly a local tie worth celebrating . Back in July , Washington County ’ s Allisha Gray and her US women ’ s basketball 3-on-3 teammates captured gold in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo , Japan . What a tremendous honor , one we simply couldn ’ t let pass by without celebrating . While we couldn ’ t be there we were there in spirit , cheering on Allisha and her teammates as they captured the gold . Be sure to check out additional photos inside this issue as well as our other stories including our look at Wood N Water Hunting & Fishing Adventures , new Ocmulgee District Attorney T . Wright Barksdale ’ s roots in Washington County and the renewal of the Coleman ’ s Corner restaurant in Tennille .

Speaking of renewal , despite everything going on around us , this time of year gives me a feeling of hope and a sense of renewal as the leaves change , the days get longer , and we transition into the final weeks of the year . There ’ s hope on the horizon .
And even though there ’ s no Kaolin Festival this year , we can all hang onto that same sense of hope . The sense that things will get better . I hope you feel it too and that the stories in this issue reinforce that sentiment .
