It ’ s been said that if a person chooses a job they love , they ’ ll never work a day in their life . Blaine Burley found a way to do just that .
A love for the great outdoors is something Burley never really remembers not having . As a young child growing up in a farm near Fitzgerald , hunting and fishing was simply a way of life . He started around the age of 4 . He remembers a childhood spent chasing virtually anything that swam , ran , flew or crawled .
“ It was fun ,” he says . “ That ’ s how we grew up was hunting and fishing and trapping . In our spare time , if we weren ’ t going to school or playing sports , we were out in the woods or on the water , and so I ’ ve just got a passion for the outdoors .”
When Burley retired from the Air Force in 1995 , he moved to Wrightsville , where his wife , Connie , was from . It was then that he started his company , Woods N Water , and began guiding hunting and fishing trips . Over the years , the company has grown to include more than 7,000 acres of property in five different counties — Washington , Wilkinson , Johnson ,
Laurens and Jefferson . There are two lodges , one in Johnson County and one in Wilkinson , where hunters and fishermen can take part in guided deer , turkey and wild hog hunts as well bass fishing trips . Lodging and meals are also
