cially opened for business on Nov . 13 , the same day as Sandersville ’ s historic Kaolin Parade .
Southern Relics is a hodgepodge of many things . Sandi has always been a fan of antiques , and when the couple decided to open the space for vendors , she originally anticipated that the majority of the booths in her store would be used to sell antiques . Instead , it has turned out to include that and much more . There is a combination of gift , thrift , apparel , home décor , furniture , and much , much more available inside Southern Relics .
“ The Lord put 30 different people here that have some of everything … Basically , a young couple or an old couple either one , could come in here and furnish their house ,” Sandi says .
And , she says they always strive to offer a variety in pricing as well .
“ Everybody says it takes a year to
get off the ground and running , and we ’ ve been running since we opened the door ,”…“ The Lord has just blessed us .”
“ We try to have something for everybody because everybody has a different wallet … If somebody comes in here and they ’ ve got $ 10 , and just say they ’ re looking for a gift for their mother or their daughter or whoever , if it ’ s $ 12 , it ’ s $ 10 for them … We try to accommodate everybody … We try to treat everybody the same and love everybody the same .”
The business is truly a family affair . Both of the couple ’ s daughters have booths , and they also help with social media and bookkeeping . Jeff sells his woodwork in the store as well .
Southern Relics has been a hit so far , earning it the Reader ’ s Choice Award for Best New Business , something both agree is an honor , especially given that they have been open for only a few short months .
