Improving the City’s language access services to bridge communication gaps
with individuals who cannot read, write, speak, or understand English
fluently is a key priority.
OCEIA manages a citywide blanket contract to assist departments with language services for
interpretation, translation, and other services. The full scope of services will be expanded in
FY 2018-2019. This will reduce contracting burdens faced by smaller City departments. By
having centralized oversight, the overall quality of language services should improve.
