giant trevally big fish swam straight toward my outstretched speargun .
It turned and I fired , making a perfect spine shot , paralyzing the fish . Swimming to the surface , I noticed my spear had not fully penetrated the fish so I subdued it on the surface . Halii , attracted by the noise of my gun discharging , yelled , ‘ You got it . You got the hundred-pounder !’ With those words in mind I held the fish tightly to me as I swam back to the boat .
Hawaii diver Travis Castillon landed an ulua weighing nearly 156 pounds .
I told my dive partner , Olie Shipp , that today was going to be the day that I shoot a 100 pound ulua . I have been fortunate enough to shoot many uluas in my life , but all have been under 100 pounds .
