Samford Grove - Newsletter Winter 2013

NEWSLETTER WINTER 2013 From the Village Manager’s Desk Samford Grove has seen an increase in visitors from the local community dropping in for a chat and to learn more about our Village. Our most recent incoming resident, Lorraine, has settled in and we had a great turn out of residents, friends and Lorraine’s family joining us at her Welcome Morning Tea. She is very excited to call Samford Grove her home especially as it’s location is close to her family who reside at Cedar Creek. Our newest resident is happy that she will be seeing much more of her grandchildren now she has relocated to the Samford Valley and to also have the opportunity of spending time with like-minded people within our Village. With Winter upon us our Social Conveners, Bev and Elizabeth will be busy planning events for the Winter months. Welcome back to our Grey Nomads and International Travellers—we look forward to your updates and diary notes of your intrepid travelling— within Australia and much further afield. ……… CAMEO Morning Teas (1st Friday of each month) A very big thank you, particularly to the Social Club Committee, for making these morning teas so special— the extra touches of pretty flowers on the tables and beautifully laundered table ware is always appreciated by everyone. A great job, girls and guys! Justice Of The Peace Service A huge thank you to Michael B for offering his services on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month between 9:30—10:30am. Our residents and staff have already made use of the opportunity to have their documents certified without having to travel outside of our Village. Extended Care Options Maxine has been looking after some of our residents with showering and personal services over the last few months. We can also assist with meals and laundry assistance should this be required. Maxine is a Certified Carer and I am sure those who she assists will vouch for her cheerful personality and tender care. Reminder : CAMEO Morning Tea Friday 2nd August—Guest Speaker “Beyond Blue” All residents and friends are invited to attend this morning Tea. Our Guest Speaker specializes in addressing Seniors on the topic of Depression and Anxiety. We encourage everyone to attend as we all undoubtedly know of someone or personally have been touched in our lifetime by this illness.
