Ayurvedic Medicine

Sometimes the most unusual uncommon
medical practices can be the most beneficial.
Ayurvedic Medicine, which originated in India, is a
very unique, healing type of medicine that is
practiced through the mind body and spirit. It is
one of the oldest holistic types of healing systems
worldwide. The basics behind the medicine are
healing one’s health by maintaining a balance
between the mind, body, and spirit. Ayurvedic
Medicine is one of many important healing
techniques that go unnoticed in current day
society within the medical field. Within the
medical field anthropologists along with doctors
and others in the medical field are trying to spread
the use of this natural medicine in order to help
improve health conditions naturally rather than
through Western medicine’s traditional pills and
medication. (Chang 2012). The main purpose
behind Ayurveda is to maintain good principles of
living to maximize a long healthy life. In order to
live a long-lasting, healthy life style one needs to
maintain this natural balance within the body.
The strategy behind Ayurvedic Medicine
is that everyone in the universe is connected one
way or another. We all have some sort of
connection. (Narayanasamy2006). Therefore,
maintaining that sort of balance among the mind,
body, and spirit is a good way to come to
harmony among the universe. The spirituality,
emotional being, and physical attributes all
contribute towards that balance. Negative
emotions, spirituality and even physical attributes
towards the body can all prevent one from
maintaining good health. Through, Ayurvedic

Medicine one can come to avoid certain negative
emotional attributes and spirits affecting one’s
health. Although, each being goes through it’s
own type of experiences whether it be purposeful
experiences or experiences that cannot be
controlled that being will go through some type of
emotional, spiritual, and even physical state of
being which may either maintain a positive impact
towards one’s health or a negative impact towards
their health.
Ayurvedic Medicine believes that each
human being is made up of a combination of five
basic elements that are found on this Earth. Those
five basic elements consist of space, fire, air,
water, and earth.
