As director of medical research for the Memphis Regional Medical Center, Maria van Werkhooven, BVM coordinates a vast amount of detail that keeps important research studies on track. Memphis Ministry Spans Decades by Jacquelyn Cramer, BVM Since 1937, BVMs in Memphis, Tenn., have served in classrooms, in diocesan administration, hospital administration, social justice, and volunteer activities. Well more than 100 BVMs have left their mark in the hearts of many. Today, two BVMs continue to serve the people of Memphis: Maria van Werkhooven (Antonius), director of medical research at Regional One Health, and Nicholas (Nic) Catrambone, a retired volunteer coming to the end of 45 years of ministry in Mississippi and Memphis.
