Memphis Ministry
Spans Decades

Since 1937, BVMs in Memphis, Tenn.,
have served in classrooms, in diocesan
administration, hospital administration,
social justice, and volunteer activities.
Well more than 100 BVMs have left their
mark in the hearts of many.
Today, two BVMs continue to serve the
people of Memphis: Maria van Werkhooven (Antonius), director of medical
research at Regional One Health, and
Nicholas (Nic) Catrambone, a retired volunteer coming to the end of 45 years of
ministry in Mississippi and Memphis.

Maria’s work in patient care, medical
technology, and administration has taken
her from Iowa to the South Pacific to
Mississippi—and back to Memphis for a
variety of positions in hospitals located in
the city’s medical center.
