SALT FISHING SOUTH AFRICA Issue 1 | Page 2

Editor’s Note Almost 7 years ago a group of us realised that there was a huge need for education on a very diverse list of topics in the recreational fishing sector, from conservation to the simple things like what to catch where and what to use. We looked at a variety of options to get our message out to the average angler on the beach and eventually settled on Facebook, which offered very simple access and the ability to easily share our content with other pages and on to personal timelines, thereby maximising our reach, and so Salt Fishing South Africa was born. One of the few shortcomings of Facebook though is that topics are moved down the page very quickly and valuable content gets shuffled out of sight. Over the last couple of months we have been looking at a contemporary way to give our members more detailed articles and tutorials that can easily be referred back to as and when required. And so, we have partnered with Vinesh Sogreem of Angling Times, to bring you the latest and most exciting, new on-line fishing magazine. We also wanted to get the stories and experiences of our members out there, so that they could share their journeys into this amazing world of marine fishing. In our first edition we bring you Willem Frans Marias’ story about his passion for artificial lure fishing, a great local destination from Jefferson Le Roux, a feature on one of the country’s favourite gamefish - the Garrick and loads more exciting reading. We will be bringing you a new issue each month , jam packed with brand new content from regular guys from all over the country. If you have any suggestions or ideas to help the magazine grow, please feel free to contact us at: [email protected] Enjoy the read!
