The changing face of Wyong Milk Factory
The Wyong Old Milk Factory today consists of a gym,
cheese and chocolate shop, café, bakery and some
other industries located on the site.
In 1907 the Milk Factory was a Co Op with over
50 local farmers and it was a well-known Butter
Factory that had a boiler room, engine and testing
rooms where they processed all the butter.
The milk factory had locally employed people which
turned into a Milk Bottling Factory. In 1921 there was
a fire in the factory which was burned to the ground.
After the fire a new building was built by over 200
farmers who became shareholders in the Co Op.
Over the years the site has had a few changes and
in the 1950’s the butter factory ceased and the milk
was the primary product introducing a
bottling
machine in 1953. In 1959 refrigerated tankers
were introduced making the collection of milk much
easier for farmers.
Have you visited Wyong Milk Factory in Alison
Road? Did you know that there is a large grassy
BBQ area at the back of the grounds, and stairs
leading down to the weir?
In the 1960’s depots were established in
Toukley, Long Jetty and Wamberal and in 1974 the
Co Op amalgamated with United Dairies. By 1994 the
factory closed and was sold off in 2000.
Today the site is fully restored with a variety of
businesses for people to come and visit including:
• Little Creek Cheese – sell haloumi cheese,
fetta’s, fromage, cheddars, assorted dips and
yoghurt.
• Luka Chocolate – beautifully crafted handmade
chocolates with a café on site. A great range of
assorted chocolates, coffee’s, drinks, crepes and
cakes on display.
• All Sorts Fitness & Wellbeing Centre – extensive
range of classes and gym. You can also hire
kayaks and boats during the day.
• Wyong Factory Milk Café - a lovely café with
a great menu, tea/coffee/cakes and plenty of
seating out on the balcony.
• Triple Treat Wholesale Bakery
• Central & Valley Vet
• Oliver’s Real Food
• Central Coast Wood Turners
These businesses are open 10am – 4pm and are
all only five minutes to the heart of Wyong. I hope
you’ll join me in exploring The Wyong Milk Factory
and other great locations on the Coast.
