Disaster Risk Reduction & Resiliency
Modelling, Classification Module and the Prioritization Module, which introduces
the Tweet Prioritization Score (TPS). The end result of the proposed framework
produces a set of prioritized tweets that would call the attention of and be used by
disaster managers for planning and immediate disaster response.
To test the proposed framework, case studies were conducted on five sample
tweet datasets. Three are real datasets extracted during major typhoons from the
past two years, namely Typhoon Urduja in 2017, and Typhoons Basyang and
Domeng in 2018. The other two datasets are scripted datasets (Typhoon Ekis and
Typhoon Arya), which were used to verify the functional features of the
framework.
The prioritization scoring module yielded assuring results, where tweets with high
TPS were verified and validated as urgent. The framework has proven to be a tool
that local disaster managers can utilize to respond to disasters more efficiently.
