Track & Field and Cheerleading(11 th Feb 2019)
The day started with clear skies which raised the spirits of the athletes and cheerleaders as they
came out in large numbers to vie for the titles of Champion in both instances. The four houses,
François, Lewis, Thomas and Walcott came prepared to fight to the finish as a number of races
were scheduled for the day’s events. The cheerleaders were well dressed in their uniforms which
reflected the colours of their respective houses.
Numerous challenges were overcome to allow an 11:00 a.m. start which included prayers, the
usual March Past, led by the Leon Hess Comprehensive Drumline, remarks from the SALCC Board
of Governors, a message from the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports through the SALCC
Sports Director and the declaration of the meet open by the Vice Principal, Dr Merle St Clair
Auguste.
With the student categories now mimicking the Under 18 and 18 plus Inter Schools format, quite
a number of young national athletes were on display in a very competitive and exciting
completion. This also made way for the representatives for Inter Schools to be chosen
