Saint Olave’s Law Society Journal justified imposing treatment on a patient. Now it is the patient, rather than the doctor, who has the final say on whether a proposed treatment can go ahead. In order for there to be an effective consent to treatment it is not enough to simply show that the patient said the word “yes”. There must be a genuine agreement to receive the treatment.
