Book Club Evenings
Flashlight by Susan Choi and What We Can Know by Ian McEwan were the Faculty book club selections for 2025-26. Each evening included spirited discussion about characters and themes, accompanied by delicious meals. Catherine Milligan and Jim Barbieri organized the events, a long-standing tradition that brings faculty together for a relaxed evening of literature and conviviality.
Exploring the Neighborhood
Kindergartners were out and about exploring their Saint David ' s neighborhood as part of their spring social studies unit of study. During a morning visit to a local fire station, they learned what they should do in the event of a fire, how firefighters respond to fires, and lots of interesting facts: firefighter ' s equipment weighs 75 to 125 pounds, and their truck comes in at 55,000 pounds! Throughout the unit, the class took several trips to nearby museums, stores, and parks, learning the history of these spaces and interacting with the people who run them. Their study culminated with The Neighborhood Show, where they shared their newfound knowledge with parents.
Leadership in Sophrosyne
What’ s the right choice to make in a given situation? Eighth graders joined Omega for a Sophrosyne lesson this spring. The older boys supported as the younger boys played a board game that tested their knowledge of self-control, manners, and making good choices.
