Stephanie Berardesca , Board Secretary , Retires
Stephanie Berardesca has retired as Secretary to the Board of Trustees . Ms . Berardesca ’ s retirement caps more than 50 years of distinguished service to Saint David ’ s in roles that have included serving as Administrative Assistant to Headmasters David Hume ( 18 years ), Tim Burns ( 2 years ) and Don Maiocco ( 9 years ). The photo below shows Stephanie at this year ’ s final Board Meeting in May .
Mother / Son Chapel Tradition Continues
“ Saint David ’ s is a school built on the foundation of family . Never forget to show your parents gratitude and love .” These wise words were delivered by alumnus Jack Church ’ 17 , the speaker at the Fifth Grade Mother / Son Chapel Talk held Thursday , April 8 , 2021 . Jack connected over Zoom from Taft , where he is a senior and president of the student body , with our fifth graders and their mothers or maternal figures . In opening , he noted the deep friendships he has maintained with his fellow Saint David ’ s classmates , strong as ever today as they all prepare to attend college .
Jack expressed that Saint David ’ s regularly reinforces the life lessons of showing gratitude and love to one ’ s parents , and his appreciation for the love and support he has received from his mother while at secondary school . “ I would not have been able to get through the past four years , without the support and guidance of my mom ,” Jack said , relaying the time when his mom drove to Taft and back in one day just to meet him for lunch , and how she has accompanied him to Taft ’ s Lessons and Carols each year .
His advice to the boys was to always show gratitude to their family members and to cherish the moments spent with them . Following the Chapel , boys presented their moms with red roses as a token of their love and gratitude . This special Chapel is held each year to celebrate the relationship between Saint David ’ s mothers ( or mother figures ) and their sons .
