Nerdy Derby Times Two
Third and fourth graders experienced the thrill of racing mini cars they designed and constructed down the 50-foot Nerdy Derby Track in this exciting STEAM project . Boys used trial and error behind the iterative design / engineering process and their learning about mass and friction to build cars to compete in one of three races : fastest , slowest , and king of the hill ( the car must stop in the middle of the track ). An additional award is given to the car with the best design . If the shrieks from within the Otto-Bernstein Theatre were any indication , this project not only is challenging , it ’ s also a ton of fun !
