Keeping School Safe in a Pandemic
The job of keeping students , faculty , and staff safe in the age of Covid-19 was assumed by all Saint David ’ s community members this year . Of particular note toward this end were the efforts undertaken by the Facilities team . As we neared the end of the academic year , Saint David ’ s Magazine discussed the challenges of this past year with Mark Poelle , Director of Facilities .
How much time did Facilities have to ready the school for in-person learning last year ?
In late March of 2020 , Dr . O ’ Halloran engaged all senior administrators to assess how to manage every aspect of our school curriculum and operations during the Covid-19 shutdown . We worked together closely to discuss and develop multiple scenarios to effectively teach and sustain an edifying experience for our boys , with the clear goal of in-person learning by late August . Planning and preparation began immediately and it required all of us moving at fullcourt-press . The front line facilities team worked steadily on this daunting task from March to August to be able to open our doors for the 2020-2021 school year .
