Digital Universe Lift Off
The Sixth Grade study of the cosmos, conducted in collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History, began in
early December, with the entire grade visiting the AMNH for an interactive session about the solar system. This unit blends
English, science and technology into interdisciplinary study that culminates with a cutting-edge space show that the boys create
and narrate for their parents in the Hayden Planetarium in March.
Teamwork and Leadership
During two days at Frost Valley in Upstate New York with
their teachers, sixth graders enjoyed exploring the natural
world, hiking to a 40-foot waterfall, and participating
in a variety of outdoor challenges. The activities pushed
them beyond their comfort zones, required them to work
collaboratively, and to lean on each other for support. The
experience promotes leadership skills, teamwork, and respect,
and strengthens our boys’ ties with their fellow classmates.
Grade One Transit Museum
To prepare for their field trip to the New York City Transit
Museum, first graders learned about the various types of
transportation in New York City. At the museum, the boys
went on a tour and participated in a hands-on workshop
in order to learn more about transportation around our
wonderful city!
