Fourth Grade Field
Trip to Stephen Wise
Free Synagogue
As part of the Fourth Grade boys’ study
of world religions, they visited the Stephen
Wise Free Synagogue. The visit provided
many of the students with an introduction
to a non-Christian house of worship, and
helped to familiarize them with various
Jewish traditions and rituals. During the field
trip, the boys looked closely at decorative
details of the Stephen Wise sanctuary and
compared what they saw to the interior
of a Christian church. A highlight was the
opportunity for the students to have a close
look at a Torah scroll.
Young Men of Color
Symposium
In November, several boys and faculty
participated in the 2017 Young Men of
Color Symposium and the (Re)Defining
Power Conference, held on Riverdale’s
campus. This year’s theme was, “Here For
It: Pushing and Expanding Boundaries.”
