During their visit to the historical site, the students were able to explore nature, rock caves, and enjoy learning about how the Lenape lived. This field trip was conducted in conjunction with the boys’ study of the early inhabitants of Manhattan, conducted through Saint David’s partnership with the New-York Historical Society. During this study, second graders also created seasonal models of Lenape longhouses and wigwams. Winter 2018  •  47
