Drop into The Garden Room for tea , a home cooked meal , or stay active with ‘ Healthy Mondays ’

Do you like taking part in social activities or catching up with friends while enjoying lunch or a cup of tea ?
The Garden Room , based in the delightful setting of Jubilee Gardens , provides a welcoming venue and recreational events for the benefit of people who are over 55 or disabled , as well as offering hot meals and other refreshments at very reasonable prices .
Themed events are held throughout the year or on special occasions , such as the celebrations to mark the 90th birthday of HM The Queen in 2016 when hundreds gathered for a traditional tea party in the day centre and Jubilee Gardens .
In addition to themed events , The Garden Room also hosts a weekly chair-based exercise programme for the over 55s . The classes , which are delivered by a qualified tutor , are held on Mondays from 11am-12noon . As

This wonderful library is situated in the busy Market Square of the picturesque historic market town of Saffron Walden . The building was the Victorian Corn Exchange , has been an arts centre and now houses the public library . Conveniently situated next to the original home of the Saffron Walden Town Library , dating back to 1832 , the library still holds the wonderful collection of books and ephemera collected by prominent local George Stacey Gibson ( 1818-1883 ) and other members of the Saffron Walden Literary and Scientific Institution . The collection has continued to be nurtured and grown into a significant collection of Victorian and Local Studies books , scrapbooks and photographs , all available to view by appointment .
