With any work equipment you should make sure that any person
using the equipment has had the relevant training to complete
the task.
A tube fabricati on company has been fi ned aft er a worker had
a fi nger severed in machinery. Magistrates’ Court heard an
employee was operati ng a metal cutti ng saw when his right hand
came into contact with the machinery, severing part of his index fi nger.
An investi gati on by the Health and Safety Executi ve (HSE) into the
incident found that the risk assessment did not identi fy the hazard
and failed to implement eff ecti ve acti on.
