• Yellow yield lights not always turning green .
• Cycling lanes and safety around downtown
• Addressing road rage
• Weaving around people
• More one way signage
• How can we provide training for this community ?
• Pedestrians ’ crosswalk is too far apart .
• Lack of crosswalks where pedestrians frequently cross
• Not enough crosswalks
• Pedestrian signals don ' t work or take too long .
• DWI campaign geared in Spanish speaking community ; drinking allowed at younger age in Mexican culture .
• Cell phones not paying attention .
• Left turn signals .
• A lot of vehicles with paper plates
Where are Arlington ’ s top safety issues ?
Participants placed dots on the boards to identify most common areas for safety issues . Most selected the central city area ( downtown and UTA ), including Cooper Street and Collins Street . Some provided additional comments :
• Two-way stop is hard for crossing at New York Ave . near Collins .
• Davis should be designed for 35 mph or less .
• Collins and Cooper are impossible to cross as a pedestrian .
• Collins is too wide for the current speed limit .
• Slip through lanes and right on red .
• Cyclist red light sensors
• Negligence of other road users at right turns { noted south of Pioneer Pkwy in east Arlington }
