As with horses the gold standard for monitoring subtle changes remains invasive blood pressure monitoring. Conclusion: Donkeys are exceptionally robust animals. Often exposed to harsh conditions, they have great reserve capacity. Perioperative management of these creatures requires slight changes and understanding when compared to horses. This is especially true with regards to drug dosages, intervals and analgesic protocols. References available on request.   25
