Junior Oceanographer Ages 9–12
What is it like to be a marine scientist? Step into their
fascinating world by exploring the principles of marine
biology and oceanography. Your fun-filled day includes
a two-hour Marine Wildlife Cruise on the R/V Sea
Explorer and hands-on laboratory activities, including
a fish dissection, microscope work, and driving an
ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) in our research tank.

Mother’s Day Dolphin Discovery Cruise
This Mother’s Day, give your mom an experience she
won’t soon forget! Join the Captain and Crew of the
R/V Sea Explorer as you cruise alongside local wildlife. Sea lions and marine birds are a sure thing. You
are also likely to encounter dolphin that are coastal
residents and maybe even a whale. Cookies, pastries,
coffee, and tea are provided.

Mother’s Day Brunch Sail

schooner Spirit of Dana Point. Join the ship’s crew in
raising the sails and steering the vessel or simply sit
back and relax as you experience the beautiful scenery of the southern California coast.

Blue Whale Discovery Cruise
While onboard the R/V Sea Explorer, enjoy a wonderful morning with Ocean Institute scientists as they
introduce you to wildlife along southern California’s
coastline, including a wide variety of birds, fish, microscopic plankton, and animals that live in sediment
retrieved from the ocean floor. Encounter a pod of
playful dolphin or cruise alongside a passing whale.
Light pastries, cookies, and coffee will be provided.

Father’s Day Adventure at Sea Ages 4–Adult *
Sign aboard for an exciting voyage on a real tallship!
First, you and dad will join the crew in handling lines
and raising sails. Then, you will enjoy a delicious meal
prepared onboard by our ship’s cook. After, you may
help steer the ship, listen to stories of legend and
lore, or just sit back and enjoy being out on the open
ocean. This thrilling sail will create memories you’ll not

SINGLE-DAY CAMPS
Junior Neptunes
Ages 6–8
Discover what life is like underwater as you meet
“Big Al,” the fish from the popular children’s book Big
Al, interact with the animals in our lab, and conduct
investigations in underwater adaptations. You will
also have the opportunity to venture out on the ocean
aboard the R/V Sea Explorer.
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm

This program will highlight a different subject each
week, so participants may choose one week or all
three. Campers will learn about sea turtles from
hatchling to adult and how conservationists protect this
fascinating animal. Campers will also “dive down” to
explore sharks and have the chance to dissect a fish.
Finally, campers will investigate whales and plankton…
the largest and the smallest sea creatures in the ocean!

Rocky Seashores, Kelp Forests,

three. Campers will learn about rocky seashores
through hands-on experiences in our Discovery Pool
with sea stars and anemones. Campers will create
an enchanted kelp forest and discover the creatures
