Although several activities in SABECO were quite appealing to me (academic, religious, Sports), what I liked most was the opportunity to meet and make so many good friends, from such a diverse cultural background. It was really an opportunity of a lifetime. Presently, I am still in school (working towards being a Biomedical Engineer). During my childhood days, I usually used to fall seriously sick. I would then be rushed to the hospital. Where, a Physician would come along, with a stethoscope round his/her neck. Ask how I was feeling, prescribe some medication, and after some time, I would be fine again. I always wondered how the medication could make me feel better. Physicians were like magicians to me. Next, when I got to secondary school, I found science subjects more interesting. This was partly due to a number of interesting science teachers we had, including a certain adventurous Chemistry teacher, who tried to manufacture "Palm Wine" in the Laboratory. Science subjects also seemed to be more practical. For example, in physics we learned about gravity, light, electricity - which were and still are part and parcel of everyday life. But, instead of choosing a career focused solely on biology or on physics, one may sometimes wish to be in a field where one is able to enjoy Physics, Biology and even some Chemistry.
