PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Debbie Wiatrek | SAAA 2017 President | Capstone Real Estate Services Thank you! I am overwhelmed with emotion as the year comes to an end and I find my time serving as your Presi- dent coming to a close. By far, this has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done in my career. I can’t begin to thank everyone enough for having the faith to put me in this position. I will be forever grateful for this opportunity. Speaking of being grateful, our PAC golf tournament was a HUGE success. We broke records left and right, with sponsorships being sold out, to selling out all the golf spots. To the best part, the highest amount of PAC dollars ever being collected at over $28,000! What amazing members we have! This goes hand in hand with every other event we have had this year in shattering records. Remember we did this for the 100 Club, American Red Cross, Tradeshow and Maintenance Mania. We also just recently wrapped up The Tradeshow, with our “Salute To Those Who Serve”. It was the best one we have had by far! The attire was spot on and our very own Matt Lusk played his heart out, while Anyssa Garcia sang the National Anthem like I have never heard. How incredible it was to have these two individuals sing and play for us. We are moving forward to our last event of 2017, the Winter Awards Gala on December 7, at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. This will showcase our industry professionals and properties of the year. Don’t miss out on this “Fire and Ice” event. It’s sure to catch a spark with all it has to offer. You can also bring your Blue Santa gifts to the Association office at any time, or bring to the Winter Award Gala, as we want to have the largest amount of gifts and money collected this year compared to years past. We have many classes still in the Education department left for everyone to attend, please don’t get left behind in getting ahead. Be sure as you finish up budgets, you budget for all the 2018 classes and PEP. This will be a Redbook year and there are many changes coming up that you will not want to miss regarding the lease and other legal issues. Lastly, if you are not involved in our Government Affairs committee, you are missing one great group of individuals who all have the same goal. The goal of this committee is to create continuity amongst all our political leaders and the Association. I encourage you to get involved in this critical committee. They have a meeting monthly and you don’t want to get caught left out. Finally, as we come to a close, my year has been so rewarding. I am thankful to all who chaired all the committees, the staff who tirelessly supported all the events and kept everything running smoothly and all the efforts of the members who never stop and keep on giving. I am forever thankful. I am humbly, your 2017 President. #ALLIN4SAAA Debbie “Those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly”. John F. Kennedy www.saaaonline.org | November/December 2017 7
