O ften times , organizations come together to reimagine its purpose . In recent year , the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Apartment Association came together to do just this . The board established a four-year strategic plan to ensure that our purpose was being carried out . One major foundational element of the San Antonio Apartment Association is its membership . The membership are the stakeholders , and as such , the members need to be our focus . Our mission is : The San Antonio Apartment Association educates , communicates , and advocates for professionals in the rental housing industry .
One of the three overarching goals the Board of Directors has established as part of this strategic plan targeted our membership . Creating value for membership through evolving services and relationships .
If the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us anything , it has been that through evolving services we can continue to serve our members . The education department pivoted and offered virtual learning opportunities for our members . The programs department has provided open air events to bring our members together . The communications department now offers completely digital versions of the member directory and Residence magazine to provide our members with the most upto-date , real-time information to keep them informed .
The government affairs team continues to meet and communicate with the mayor , city council and other city officials to advocate on behalf of our members . As you can see , everything that has been done , and everything that the association will continue to do , will be driven by our mission and strategic goals .
The SAAA membership gives the association a purpose . This purpose will , of course , mean something different to everyone but in the end , we hope to bring value to your membership ! Value by having access to free education through our PEP ( Professional Education Program ), attendance at programs where you can meet with other members , and participating in our advocacy efforts at the local , state , and national levels .
My name is Alan Ross . I am a third generation Independent Rental Owner and the Director of Operations for Bob Ross Realty . Some would call me an association legacy , as my family ’ s involvement in the San Antonio Apartment Association runs deep . My grandfather , Bob Ross , was one of founding members of the San Antonio Apartment Association and its first president . He later went on to serve as the president of the state association , TAA and later the national association , NAA . Following in his footsteps were his three sons , Peter , Steve , and Marc who served a total of 5 terms spanning 28 years from 1980 to 2008 . Marc later went on to serve
