PEER
AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE
Erin,
f you know what the Peer Ambassador Committee (PAC) team is, you automatically receive 100 Life Points of Awesomeness, to be used at your own discretion in whatever matter you deem fit. Sadly, many of you won’t know that the PAC team even exists here at SLC (thus rendering you ineligible for the aforementioned Life Points). My job is to change that. What Exactly is the PAC team? During my first year at SLC, I kept hearing people mention “PAC”, but not only did I have no knowledge of the team, I also was not even certain of what the anagram stood for. (I have taken the liberty of letting you know so you don’t have to wonder for weeks on end, but it is your job to find it in this article). I will allow a snippet of our updated mission and vision statement to describe our team: “The PAC Team aims to develop positive relationships between administrative and student bodies, promote a sense of community between students from all faculties and programs, as well as provide interesting, engaging and enjoyable activities to complement the learning objectives of the college. The PAC Team aims to be a visible, positive scholastic entity that supports cohesion between academics and extra-curricular involvement.”
PAC Team Coordinator
I
We want to engage you, we want to interact with you, and most of all we want you to enjoy yourselves. My team and I work closely with the Student Association and the Athletics department to create dynamic partnerships that bring you the best student events. We want to see you get involved and make the most out of your college experience. Whether you are extroverted, introverted, or somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, it doesn’t matter; we want to see you engaged in whatever way you feel comfortable, and perhaps even take a risk that places you outside of your own comfort zone. What Does my Job Entail? My name is Erin, and I am your 2013/2014 PAC Team Coordinator. I am in charge of making sure everything within the PAC team runs smoothly, from our planned events, to our volunteering, to our basic student engagement function. With a dynamic team of seven individuals, it is my hope that you will get to know most (or all) of the team throughout the course of the school year. I have been working on St. Lawrence College’s own “de-stress fest”, which will be announced later in the year and is aimed to help you “blow off some steam” during the course of your first semester final exams. I am planning a “Good Neighbour ” campaign for off-campus
students during September, as well as various “Welcome Week” activities. The PAC team will be involved in a string of awareness campaigns relating to common social issues for individuals attending college. We will also be lending a hand to various schools and departments within the college for events that they will be hosting and planning. We will also do our best to keep the student body apprised of any interesting events in the Kingston Community, so keep your eyes on our Facebook page for these great opportunities. It is my hope that you get the most out of your college years by getting engaged, getting active and using all the resources at your disposal. The PAC team is rooting for you and we want to see you succeed!
