King’ s Hall Happenings ….
Basics Bank Since February, Newington Churches Together( NCT) have been working in partnership with other agencies to provide food to those in need through their new Basics Bank initiative. Each Thursday morning at King’ s Hall, we offer short-term help of four to six weeks for those referred who would otherwise struggle to find the means to manage over a time of crisis. Basics Bank is also open to receive donations of non-perishable food and toiletries to pass on; you can drop them in at CCE King’ s Hall in South Clerk St 10:30am-1pm Thursdays, or Sunday 10:00am- 1:30pm at the collection table in the front vestibule. Newington Toy Library.... happens at CCE King’ s Hall Weds mornings 9:30am to 11:30am weekly( during school term) for pre-schoolers and their parents / carers. Children can play safely,, and at the end of the day, can borrow toys to take home and continue their fun. Small subscription payable. South Bridge Resource Centre, in the heart of the city centre, has been a hub for Community Learning and Development( CLD) activity for many years, attracting people from both the local community and across the city to youth work and adult education provision.
We host a wide variety of classes and activities, including:

• Everyday reading, writing and number work

Arguably one of the most enigmatic figures in Scottish history, the story of Mary, Queen of Scots can still arouse strong emotions: was she betrayed by those she trusted, condemned to die a Catholic martyr, or a murdering adulteress with her husband’ s blood on her hands? This major exhibition, only showing in Edinburgh, provides a unique opportunity to re-evaluate much that has been written and speculated about this charismatic monarch, drawing together surviving relics intimately connected with Mary and wider Renaissance material, such as documents, portraits, jewellery, furniture and textiles.
