Headington School Oxford Boat Club is widely regarded as one of the leading girls ’ academic and rowing schools in the United Kingdom . Founded 30 years ago , the Boat Club has been at the forefront of Junior Women ’ s Rowing for the last 20 years ; culminating in victory in the inaugural Junior Women ’ s Eights ( Prince Philip Challenge Trophy at Henley Royal Regatta . The Boat Club is the only school or club to qualify for every Henley Royal Regatta since Junior Women ’ s events were added in 2012 .
Headington ’ s rowers have access to a range of excellent facilities including a state of the art gym and , from October 2023 , a brand new £ 4.5million state of the art boathouse to house the club ’ s impressive fleet of racing boats .
As a club , our emphasis is on producing successful athletes capable of substantial academic success , setting them up for university
and their future careers . What sets Headington apart from many schools is our holistic approach to pupil education and opportunities . The coaches and teachers have a common vision to ensure that the School produces well rounded Athlete Scholars , where the skills on the field or water are seen as part of the vital skills they learn in the classroom for future success .
Headington has a strong focus on developing club culture and building a robust environment around training and shared club ethos and goals . Each J18 rower leads a vertical “ Little Horses ” group of rowers , where each member through the age groups has a big sister who mentors them through their time at Headington .
