Albini Church
A team of well-respected construction role players joined forces to
restore the weathered structure of Albini, a quaint 80-year-old
church. Lead Architects undertook a development masterplan of
the Albini Mission Station situated in Ntshongweni, KwaZulu-Natal
for the Catholic Archdiocese. Renowned construction company F
Verbaan Construction, roofing contractor GWR Roofing and brick
supplier Use-it teamed up in the rebuilding and restoration of this
historical site.

Cheré Botha School
Award-winning Cheré Botha School in the Western Cape assists
children who are intellectually challenged. Elegant Roofing and
Wolff Architects teamed up to create a unique building design
element by using exposed timber roof trusses, which adds richness
to the overall aesthetic appeal of the structure and allows for
plenty of room for natural light to enter the building.

Botswana Innovation Hub November / December 2018
Designed by SHoP Architects, the Botswana Innovation Hub acts as
a beacon in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. The
complex features a collection of long slender buildings that reach
out into the open land and are covered with a concept SHoP calls
an ‘Energy Blanket’ roofscape that incorporates sustainable energy
techniques. The roof design incorporates large overhangs to
passively shade the building’s interior volumes, mechanisms to
collect and re-use water and both passive and active photovoltaic
systems to harness solar energy. The roofs – that collect rainwater
for reuse – are covered by roof gardens that boast indigenous
plant species. Grand Prix Models

DIREC TORY 2019
Fabcon Steel turns an architectural dream into reality at Grand Prix
Models in Johannesburg. The client desired an expansion of the
specialist hobby shop into a general venue by adding another level
for a restaurant and function area. The client’s long-term vision is
to utilise the tarred rooftop area, with the idea of making use of a
curved fabricated steel structure to extend over the area. The
curved shape was selected to represent a giant airplane wing, as
the building is in line with the flight path from OR Tambo
International Airport.
