What was the gap you identified in mining that led to the founding of Tshepa Basadi?
Our journey to founding Tshepa Basadi Project Management began long before we ever decided to start a company. As project managers working within the mining sector, we were constantly exposed to different environments, teams, and organisations. And the more we looked around, the more we realised something was missing: women-owned businesses were almost invisible in this space. Despite the incredible contributions women were making on the ground, there were very few who owned, led, or directed companies in the mining value chain. That reality didn’ t sit well with us.
At the same time we were also seeing another opportunity. Because of the variable nature of projects, mining companies needed partners who could offer truly agile teams that had both the capability and capacity to respond quickly to the fastchanging needs of their Project Management Offices. There was a gap between what was needed and what was available, and we knew that with our background and passion for project management, we could bridge that divide.
How do you help clients manage complex projects and maintain operational continuity?
We pride ourselves on offering a truly end-to-end project management service. If it falls under the umbrella of project management, we can deliver it. But what really sets us apart is the way we wrap complementary services like Operational Readiness around that core offering. This means our clients don’ t just get a project delivered; they get a project delivered in a way that integrates seamlessly into their existing operations.
Our teams are made up of seasoned specialists who’ ve worked across the full spectrum of project environments – from smallscale initiatives to large, highly complex programmes, and from brownfield expansions to brand-new greenfield developments.
