Leading the circle of change
Since becoming CEO in 2022, how has your career journey helped shape the way you lead Fibre Circle? My career has always been centred on people and organisational transformation. Before becoming CEO of Fibre Circle, I spent many years in HR, leadership development, and organisational strategy, followed by co-founding a consultancy that helped organisations navigate change, governance, and performance improvement. That experience taught me that sustainable change is never just about systems or policies, it is about people. At Fibre Circle, I have brought that philosophy into everything we do. We don ' t simply implement Extended Producer Responsibility( EPR), we build partnerships, strengthen institutions, and create opportunities that enable people to participate meaningfully in the circular economy. My HR background helped me understand people, while entrepreneurship taught me resilience, innovation, and the importance of delivering measurable outcomes despite limited resources.
Please tell us about the successful initiatives under your leadership. Since joining Fibre Circle, I have focused on building an EPR organisation that creates both environmental and socio-economic value. Our achievements include expanding environmental education in schools, strengthening municipal partnerships, advancing separation-at-source initiatives, investing in waste picker integration, supporting buy-back centres, and improving industry data and reporting systems.
Perhaps our greatest achievement has been demonstrating that environmental sustainability and inclusive economic development can and should go hand in hand.
How have these projects helped advance women ' s empowerment? Across communities, women often lead household recycling, operate small recycling enterprises, and make up a significant proportion of informal waste reclaimers. Our programmes create opportunities for women by providing access to training, improved market participation, protective equipment, formal recognition, and stronger links into the recycling value chain.
Beyond economic empowerment, we aim to restore dignity by recognising women as environmental leaders and contributors to the circular economy.
