Q & A: EVERLECTRIC
Everlectric co-founder Wesley van der Walt reveals their 2026 EV expansion: delivery vans and urban trucks designed for real-world fleet duty cycles, boosting efficiency, uptime, and total cost savings for operators.

How do the new vehicles differ from the smaller EV models previously offered by Everlectric in terms of payload, range, and operational capability? The biggest difference is that these vehicles are designed for commercial duty cycles from day one. Earlier EV options were well suited to lighter panel-van applications operating on tightly defined routes with lower payload requirements. The 2026 expansion introduces larger panel vans and urban distribution trucks capable of handling heavier payloads, longer operating hours, and more intensive stop-start delivery environments.
In practical terms, we are now seeing real-world operating ranges in the 250 – 350km band, depending on vehicle class and application, which allows fleets to complete full urban delivery schedules without compromising service levels. That moves electrification into core logistics operations rather than niche-use cases.
What specific challenges in urban delivery and distribution does this expanded EV range address that earlier models could not? Urban logistics places pressure on fleets in ways that aren’ t always obvious. Vehicles deal with frequent stops, loading cycles, traffic congestion, tight delivery windows, and consistent payload demands. Earlier EV models
could successfully support lighter routes, but heavier distribution work often required compromises.
The expanded range addresses payload capacity, cargo volume flexibility, and utilisation intensity, allowing fleets to electrify retail replenishment, pharmaceutical distribution, service fleets, and heavier last-mile operations. Operators no longer need to force EVs into roles they weren’ t designed for – they can match vehicle class directly to operational requirements.
How does Everlectric ensure these new vehicles maintain uptime and service levels compared to conventional internal combustion fleet vehicles? We don’ t deploy on assumptions – we deploy on operational data. Every vehicle class undergoes route analysis and payload profiling before entering live proofof-concept deployments on the client’ s actual routes. That allows fleets to validate performance under real operating conditions before scaling.
Across our fleet, we have now completed more than 10 million commercial electric kilometres in South African conditions. That experience has allowed us to develop a practical operating playbook around maintenance planning, charging optimisation, driver behaviour, and duty-cycle matching.
