Driving economic resilience

With over 80 % of freight moving by road, the country’ s economic resilience depends on disciplined infrastructure delivery and inclusive participation to strengthen supply chains, unlock regional growth and sustain investor confidence.

South Africa’ s long-term economic growth depends on the strength and reliability of its transport infrastructure. While public discourse often focuses on energy reform or fiscal consolidation, transport remains one of the most powerful practical drivers of national competitiveness. Road infrastructure is not simply a public service. It ' s an economic enabler.
According to the South African National Roads Agency( SANRAL), about 80 % of the country’ s freight is transported by road. National, provincial, and municipal networks connect production centres to ports, agricultural regions to markets, and communities to economic opportunity.
The quality and reliability of these corridors influence supply chain efficiency, logistics costs, and ultimately, investor confidence.
