Where Two Visions Become One
A couple’ s conflicting garden visions – one craving nature, the other simplicity – led to a landscape that balances tranquillity and practicality in one elegant, lawn-free design.
This garden has a fascinating backstory. We were approached by a husband and wife who had just completed building their retirement home. After years of hard work, they finally created a space to enjoy the next chapter of their lives.
The house was finished – modern, comfortable, and filled with natural light. But one crucial element was still absent: the garden.
The wife envisioned a lush, inviting outdoor space – a garden where she could spend her mornings surrounded by greenery, enjoying the sound of birds and the scent of flowers. She wanted colour, life, and texture – a garden that would evolve through the seasons and reward her attention.
The husband, however, had a very different idea. After decades of wrestling with a lawnmower and maintaining gardens every weekend, he was ready to hang up his gardening gloves. His vision of a perfect garden was simple – one that required little to no upkeep. In his words,“ If I never have to mow another lawn again, I’ ll be happy.”
