Alleyroads Group goes green on their developments

By Dean Gounden
Until a few years ago solar panels were a rare sight in South Africa as these were largely limited to the roofs of a few affluent houses in the suburbs .
This is changing rapidly , largely driven by three main factors :
1 .
The worldwide drive to renewable energy ,
2 .
A highly strained local electricity supply from Eskom ; and
3 .
A steady drop in solar panel prices .
Hemmingway Heights .
Moving to cleaner and cheaper energy in South Africa makes sense as we average more than 2 500 hours of sunshine per year and average solar radiation level range between 4.5 and 6.5 Wh / m ² in one day .
The Alleyroads Group develops affordable residential sectional title units for rental across the country with some 2 000 units forming part of their portfolio . The rentals in these developments range between R3 500 to R5 500 for a twobedroom , one bathroom unit .
