ach year all SAARDA members are invited to
enter a golf team and to invite people from
the industry, active in either the public or
private sector, to network and have fun.
The final golf day of the year is planned for
22 November and will be held at Glendower Golf
Club. At this function, the overall winners of the
golf challenge will be announced and, most
importantly, SAARDA will hold its awards evening.
Awards will be made in various categories,
including best small, large and emerging
developers, best performing financial institution
and the municipal area in which the development
environment is most conducive to
delivering houses.
Nedbank Home Loans was principle sponsor at
the golf day hosted at Parkview Golf Club on
Thursday 21 September. The bank has always been
a large player in the affordable housing market,
and is currently in the process of increasing its
visibility, as well as growing its market share.
Nedbank Commercial Property Finance is the
dominant funder of engineering infrastructure
construction in the affordable housing market.
The annual SAARDA golf challenge is well-
established and is the association’s most
successful forum for getting stakeholders
together and providing opportunity for, as well as
a platform from which, to discuss events, trends,
challenges and changes in the industry. Non-
golfing members join the evening function, which
includes dinner.
The Parkview golf day was well attended, with
21 teams entered. Besides SAARDA members,
other participants included environment
consultants, provincial and local government
officials and representatives of the banking
industry. The association held its AGM at the same
venue before the golfers teed off.
In these challenging times of changing
legislation, political uncertainty and low
economic growth rate and a massive shortage of
affordable housing opportunities, the SAARDA
golf challenge remains one of the most important
events bringing most role players in the industry
together to network and debate issues affecting
our industry.
