oatings for Africa 2018, a major showcase of paint
and coatings products and technology, is staged by
the South African Paint Manufacturing Association
(SAPMA) and the Oil and Colour Chemists’ Association of

This is the third year of the show in its present format
and the first as a joint venture between dmg events,
SAPMA and OCCA.
Terry Ashmore, chairman of SAPMA, says the show is the
largest dedicated coatings event in Africa for raw material
and service suppliers, equipment manufacturers and paint
manufacturers in the coatings industry.
“The origin of the show dates back to a series of
technical conferences arranged by OCCA throughout South
Africa, culminating in a biennial conference at Champagne
Sports Centre in the KZN Drakensberg. In 2010, a
cooperative agreement between OCCA and SAPMA was
concluded and the show was moved to the more central
location of Johannesburg under its present ‘Coatings for
Africa’ title,” he states.
