We also have a Municipal Support programme . Municipalities are the main link for the project follow through . When municipalities do not have the know-how , it becomes a challenge to the sector in terms of delivery and , of course , progress in providing housing .So , we make sure that we capacitate them to understand their role . The programme successfully bridges any potential gap that may arise between SHIs and municipalities .
“ In order to have a meaningful Charter , we have collaborated with the Property Sector Charter Council who are helping us to meet our mandate for transformation .”
Another programme that the SD & T is managing is a training programme , which started four years ago , and is available for both public and private sector partners . Before the lockdown because of the Covid-19 pandemic , we were holding physical provincial training sessions and then decided to have these programmes online . Thereafter , these sessions were made available on our YouTube channel to enable people to view them in their own time .
A further development is the Sector Toolkits , which are a resource to assist our stakeholders to understand the establishment of SHIs , project development , project packaging and management of social housing projects . These will be available on our website .
The information sessions are mainly for general social housing awareness , whereby attendees can decide on the role that they wish to play in social housing and enquire further .
( SAAH ) Please tell us more about the Social Housing Transformation Charter , which was referred to in the 2019 / 20 SHRA annual report . ( DP ) In order to have a meaningful Charter , we have collaborated with the Property Sector Charter Council who are helping us to meet our mandate for transformation . We will be collaborating on the development of the social housing scorecard to see how best we can draw from their experience and what we need to add to our scorecard to ensure a useful SHRA Transformation Charter . The work that has been done so far is the training of SHIs and ODAs on the proposed scored card elements , which will then be gazetted .
SA Affordable Housing conveys our appreciation to Ms Phoswa for her response to our questions , and we acknowledge the critical role that SHRA , and its SD & T programme , are playing in the transformation of the social housing sector .

Building on a successful 18-year track record

The TUHF Group of companies is excited to announce the launch of TUHF21 as a “ separate but connected ” operation from the Group . The objective is to enable TUHF21 to explore other markets more rapidly , particularly in townships , while growing its existing product portfolio and developing innovative new ones .

It will remain connected to the overarching TUHF ethos of ensuring that access to finance for property entrepreneurs is optimised , urban regeneration , densification and management is scaled , and that training and mentorship of clients continues . TUHF21 will also manage all the Corporate Social Investments ( CSI ) activities which are an important focus of the Group .
Essentially , TUHF21 will focus on three pillars to harness fresh opportunities :
• Managing and growing its Intuthuko , uMaStandi , and other products .
• Developing new solutions based on relevant and practical research .
• Providing impact tracking and reporting services for the Group to ensure the development impact activities continue in a financially sound and highly governed manner .
“ As a non-profit organisation , TUHF21 remains proudly not for loss . Financial sustainability will be at the core of our future operations . It will receive an injection of capital through the sale of a portion of our shares in TUHF Holdings and will continue to accrue dividend income from its remaining shareholding .
This will see the uMaStandi core lending programme driving aggressive targets to reach profitability , and all other programmes will be managed on , at minimum , a cost-plus-margin basis . The research , development and innovation work will be performed in a focused manner with clear lines of funding to each result area to ensure that applied research becomes the driver of any new products that will be brought to market .
