Samoa
Nickname: Manu Samoa
World Cup appearances: 6
World Cup best finish:
Quarterfinals, 1991, 1995
Ranked 12th in the World
Rugby Official Rankings, unlike
their neighbours Fiji, Samoa
have always been a force to be
reckoned with during the early
days of the World Cup.
Besides South Africa, Samoa’s
closest competition in the pool
is Scotland. Renowned for their
breath-taking “Manu Siva Tan”
dance they usually perform before
kickoff, the Samoan team will
rely on the attacking prowess of
players such as Kahn Fotuali’I
and the Pisi brothers (Ken and
George).
Their encounter against
Scotland is a must-watch and
might seal their fate in deciding
whether or not they progress to
the next round.
