OBELISK Keeps Growing by Paul Hayle

We have just launched the latest update to The OBELISK and are now running the all new version 2.1 for users and have included a whole raft of features that really enhance the user experience.
The new features make the T & C experience a whole lot easier for individuals and firms to monitor their gap analysis and CPD:
1. New tablet friendly layout:
When you now login you will see a user friendly desktop making it much easier to navigate around the site. There are now 6 key buttons that take you straight to the core areas of the platform:
• Monthly Gap Analysis – home to the extremely popular monthly gap analysis assessments. This is an area which is the keystone in the OBELISK where the RWA team continue to set the monthly assessments saving your administrators and supervisors a lot of time.
• The Course Catalogue – we have now amalgamated all the courseware into one area, split between the Aviva Development Zone course gap analysis and RWA’ s own course gap analysis and learning material. These two distinct categories are easily idenitifiable to the user and are indexed by category making it simpler to plan ahead.
• Case Studies – we now have some 15 + case studies based on real life broking scenarios which put the user in the place of the broker with decisions to be made that affect the outcome of the case.
• OBELISK Reports – behind the scenes, the OBELISK collects a lot of data which in the past we have used to analyse trends across the broker population. Users can now see, at the touch of a button, how they compare to both their own company scores and also against the average scores of all users. Supervisors can now review the usage of their own staff without having to wait for their monthly report from the OBELISK team.
• The RWA Library – this new section is in its infancy, but over time we will be uploading a lot of reading material to help with your CPD and our new video wall where RWA’ s experts explain insurance terms and concepts in short 60 second clips – a great way for staff to listen and learn.
• Course of the Month – every month we will highlight a course which may either be new or important to brokers and which we believe all users should attempt. The first course of the month is the new learning module on LASPO 2012 and the MOJ Act 2013.
2. Ask The OBELISK search feature:
Join the discussion
This is our new intelligent OBELISK search engine. Most learning platforms will allow you to search only on key words or titles of courseware, which is useful as long as the course writer has written the correct key words.
What makes Ask The OBELISK different is the unique algorithm our developers have written which searches all the course content, video content, written library and gap analysis questions. This means that The OBELISK will search the whole library for any search term and return the results that most closely match what you are looking for( much like everyone’ s favourite search engine) – this means you can search on terms such as“ what is the duty of disclosure” and be directed to the area on OBELISK or Aviva Development Zone which most closely answers that question.
3. The Timer & CPD Recorder:
Everyone knows recording CPD is a bit of a stab in the dark sometimes. Keeping a record of how long something can take and how to record it can raise a lot of questions. When users now log in to OBELISK the system will start an on screen clock that ticks away in the
