That’s not going to be easy. Games with Middlebury, Hartford and CVU are plugged into the first five weeks, and two of Rutland’s last three games will be on the road at Rice and Burlington. Division I now has 13 teams and come the end of October five of them will be out in the cold. On the upside Middle- bury and defending champion Hartford, two of Rutland’s chief rivals, will come to Alumni Field this year. 13 Nick Moise 15 James Mars 17 Preston Hall 20 Caden Capman 21 Lucas Gloss 24 Jacob Allen 33 Grant Schreiber 51 Heith Mason 54 Matt Fox The season opens at Alumni on Friday when Brattleboro comes to town for a 7 p.m. game. Rutland enters the season with as little experience as the Raiders have had in some time. The last two graduating classes pretty much gutted Norman’s last state title team, but one thing has not changed. “We want to play fast on both sides of the ball,” Norman said, stressing that the Raider cannot afford to beat themselves. The Raiders will have to replace all their skill position regulars save for tail- back Dakota Peters, who got the lion’s share of carries last year, The Raiders have only a couple of 57 Jacob DeBonis 58 Cameron Westcott 59 Roahan McGee 60 Mason Hutchins 61 Latrell Chapman 62 Josiah Burke 63 Ryan Alt 62 Lucas DuPell 70 Domonic Ezzo experienced offensive linemen and of the 20 or so returning players, Norman said just five have significant varsity expe- rience. Defensively the Raiders are going to be brand-new but they are a coachable group. “The kids have been tremendous,” Norman said. “They’re working hard and they have bought in.” Rutland’s staff has undergone changes as well with longtime defensive coach Mickey Caliguiri retired and P.J. Abateill and Nick Maniery back in the fold. Rutland’s most experienced vets are tight end/D-back Jared Miglorie, who also has some quarterback experience, Peters at running back and linebacker, 71 Jacob McMahon 72 Lane Gibbs 73 Matt Gelbar 74 Thomas Harris 75 David Alexander 77 Shannon Wright 86 Thomas Dunbar 89 Keegan Chadburn
