HOW TO REACH US
We could not provide
local sports coverage
without the help of local
high school coaches call-
ing in their games — win,
lose or draw. We can’t be
everywhere. Your com-
munity depends on that
shared information. And
we are more than happy
to spread the word.
So make that call
when your game is
finished. Call in results to
802-774-3121.
Bob Fredette
Rutland native Bob Fredette
has been a member of
the Rutland Herald sports
department since 1977 and
has served as a writer, assistant
editor and editor. He also has
been an adjunct professor at
Castleton University for the
past 10 years.
Tom Haley
Tom Haley came to the
Rutland Herald in January
1987, following 15 years in the
Connecticut Valley, covering
sports for the Eagles Times
and a stint in education at
Fall Mountain Regional High
School in New Hampshire. It
has been an exciting 30-year
ride highlighted by great
rivalries, championships and,
most of all, the people: We
have athletes and coaches who
make it so fun.
OUR TEAM
You are likely to also see work from our con-
tributing writers and photographers, including:
Robert Layman
Robert Layman started
freelancing at the Rutland
Herald in 2015, and became a
staff photographer in Febru-
ary 2016. Before that I was in
college at Appalachian State
University, participating in
our campus literary magazine,
The Peel, as a poetry editor
and contributor. I grew up in
the Blue Ridge mountains of
North Carolina and enjoy the
outdoors.
Jon Olender
Jon Olender has been shoot-
ing sports and all other sorts
of things for The Times Argus
and Rutland Herald since
before the turn of the mil-
lennium in 1999. Jon enjoys
the Vermont landscape in all
seasons, participating in all
sorts of sports and activities
from photography to hunt-
ing, fishing, hiking, skiing,
swimming and everything in
between.
AJ Marro, Chuck Clarino, Carleton Laird and
Poody Walsh. We could not provide our coverage
without them.
If you are a social media
junkie, you also can fol-
low Bob on Twitter at
@Bob_Fredette and Tom
at @RHSportsGuy.
Parents, there also
are extra photos that
do not make it into our
print publication. So go
to www.rutlandherald.
com. Under the News tab,
scroll down to Photos and
search SmugMug for the
latest match-ups. You can
order photos there.
Thanks for your support
of local sports, and your
hometown newspaper.
