MY PLACE
PHOTOGRAPHY
LEARNING PROJECT
The My Place Photography Learning Project is a two-year
project developed by the Scottish Civic Trust and is run in partnership
with the My Place Photography Competition. The learning project
focuses on providing opportunities for young people of school age
to explore heritage and the built environment and gain a better
knowledge of their local buildings, places and spaces.
The project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund with support from
Historic Scotland.
In pilot year one, the Scottish Civic Trust worked with schools in
South Lanarkshire and supported 80 young people to take part in a
range of photographic activities, guided architecture walks, group
work and discussions. Using their cameras as explorative tools, the
young photographers created a range of images that visualise their
understanding and interpretation of the built environment.
The My Place Photography website showcases these images and
provides a platform for sharing resources including videos, workshop
plans and activity guides.
