Society Changes

By Christina Estrada

Could you ever imagine listening to a debate about whether teachers should be keep guns in the classroom or not? Could you picture a time where you log on to a social media site and see a viral video of a girl sucking on a used tampon, or a person having sexual intercourse with an animal? These scenarios seem like they have nothing to do with each other, and it’s true, but what they do have is a similarity. That similarity is that in today’s world, things like this happen every day now.

They say change is good, but I think this is not the kind of change “they” were thinking of. Back in December 2012, America faced the awful massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. Along with the death of 20 innocent children, there came heartbreak, fear, and inspiration. By inspiration I mean that after the unfortunate event, many more people thought it would be a good idea to mimic and threaten many lives in school. Resulting in schools closing from finding notes of threat, and a huge debate about letting teachers have guns in the classroom. Honestly this is ridiculous to me. Why? Because back in the day, school was meant for learning to be someone good in this world, and learning how to socialize with people. Now school is about socializing (this includes bullying to the extreme), death from bullying, fear of bullying and getting shot at school, and on top of all that learning.

Then you have all of these viral videos going around of people doing some really dumb things, things that I believe society are just not or never were ready to see. I am not sure what these people were thinking when they were recording or uploading it but something needs to be done before this world gets out of hand. Sometimes I think and fear that we are all heading to a society like the one in that one movie " Idiocracy" Something needs to done, and fast, so that our world can go back to normal...well half way normal. It was never normal to begin with.

What has this world come to?

Life can be viewed at through many different perspectives. One person may see life as middle life between the good and the bad. One person may see life as a mixture of everything with a result of inevitable wisdom. We see life as many things, we see many things as what makes life what it is. With our different perspectives we shouldn't let them get in our way of peace and unity Instead, we should accept the diverse world we live in and stop forcing our own beliefs thats based on opinion rather than facts on others. Who cares if one person does not believe in the same God as you. Who cares if one person doesn't like the same type of shoes as you. Who cares if someone isn't your height. Unite!

Two animals of a different species. Physical differences can't separate the mutual feeling two different people can develop mentally and emotionally.

Analyze your current perspective. Is it benefitting you? Is it healthy? Is it how you truly view the world or is it based off of someone else's belief? If the answers do not satisfy you, don't be afraid to take another route of living.
