HARNESS THE POWER
2 Timothy 1:7 (GNTD) says, "For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control”. But what if you have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)?
My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD when she was seven years old. The doctors first gave her Ritalin and then after a few years they gave her Adderall, which was supposed to be better; however, the drugs changed her. They not only calmed her down but they made her lethargic. They allowed her to focus somewhat, but she felt “weird” as she would say and not herself. The teachers said she would sit just staring some days and was slow to react.
As she aged and came into her adult years she decided to stop taking the medication. When she stopped taking the medication it allowed her to live a somewhat “normal” life. She still had problems with concentration and high energy. Which did not serve her well
when she was trying to go to college and she dropped out of school. 2 Peter 1:6 (NLT) states "to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add endurance; to your endurance add godliness”.
Since the Bible tells us to add self-control which was something she was missing at times I was lost and did not know what to do to help her. Then I remembered Psalm 32:8 in which the Lord stated, “I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct you and advise you”. I began to give her the NRG from Total Life Changes.
